The Austin Abraham Foundation (AAF), in partnership with the European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU) has officially opened applications for 1000 impact scholarships, providing aspiring learners across Botswana with access to internationally recognized online education.

Additional Board member at Austin Abraham Foundation, Ame Losika noted that, EBU’s mission is strongly aligned with providing a world class education while addressing financial barriers and promoting global inclusion, making it a relevant institution in the modern educational landscape. He said this partnership is expected to empower Botswana in this era of difficult economic challenges through education.

“The foundation acts as a vital conduit, ensuring that Batswana have access to globally relevant, accredited skills and qualifications in high-demand fields like technology, finance and management,” he said reiterating that, this directly supports Botswana’s need for a skilled workforce to navigate the future economic environment.

He added that Austin Abraham Foundation is a recognized organization that fights for study, career advancement and job relevant opportunities for everyone and therefore this partnership aligns perfectly with EBU’s non-profit mission of making world-class education accessible and affordable, particularly for students in developing regions.

Losika said that EBU certificates are officially Luxembourg Government-Approved for continuing professional training.

“EBU is also dedicated to meeting the UN sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4; Quality education,” Losika explained saying that the Government of Botswana similarly embraces quality education as a gate way towards sustainable development.

Professor, lead analyst at APDI from EBU, Jean-Pierre de la Porte said that Luxembourg and Botswana are two countries with enormous similarities which is why they chose to partner with Botswana on this matter. He said that within the SADC region, Botswana is one country that prioritizes public spending especially on education and so they saw it fit to acknowledge Botswana by introducing these online courses for Batswana.

“Botswana suffers from high levels of inequality. The most damaging form of inequality is unequal access to opportunity to learn what you need to access opportunity in society. Lowering the cost of access to relevant and reliable knowledge is a first step to fighting inequality and empowering more people with choice,” he said.

The scholarship initiative offers access to 13 weeks, live online certificate programmes delivered by EBU’s international faculty in high demand fields including Business Administration CPA, Hospitality, Artificial Intelligence for leaders, Technology, Project Management, Compliance, Cyber Security and English.

Founder of Austin Abraham Foundation, Austin Abraham told this publication that this partnership lays the groundwork for economic cooperation with Luxembourg. He said this collaboration came at an opportune time when the country is headed towards a technological transition.

“The collaboration represents a step towards a more technological advanced Botswana. The Introduction of courses such as Artificial intelligence strengthens the country's data and innovation framework, equipping citizens with skills that are essential in the global digital economy, enhancing our capacity to attract international investors,” said Abraham.
