A 92-year-old man who walks with the aid of crutches hanged himself in Moshupa, at Magaung ward on Monday.

The old man stayed with his mentally challenged son, while the rest of his grown children are out of the family home and only checked on their father through occasional visits.

The suicide case was reported to the police by the old man's 45-year-old son, who passed by his father's house and found him lying lifeless beside his bed, with a tie tied to his neck and bed headboard.

The shocked son, rushed to the police station to report the matter.

Station Commander for Moshupa Police, Superintendent David Ramoseki said his office is still shocked by the suicide incident.

"We are investigating the suicide case, we cannot say we suspect foul play because investigations on the matter are still ongoing and it is a fresh matter," Ramoseki said.

Ramoseki also revealed that the old man stayed with his mentally challenged son, who could leave the house anytime leaving the old man unattended.
