A 35-year-old man of Sekhutlane village, Ontibile Khumanego appeared before Kanye magistrate court on Monday for mention, after he was locked up for allegedly raping his 11-year-old step-daughter.

Khumanego sat inside court wearing a blue t-shirt hoping to be granted bail. He was locked up a month ago for an incident that occurred on July 28. The accused was denied bail and the matter was slated for September 19th for status update concerning bail application.

Details of the incident before court are that on July 28, in Sekhutlane, the accused person, Khumanego was sleeping in a room with his now ex-girlfriend and her 11-year-old step-daughter.

Upon waking up, the girlfriend noticed that her child was raped and reported the incident to the police.

Khumanego was handcuffed along with a 27-year-old male Elija Rabatho of Moshupa, accused of one count of unlawful wounding in a different case.
