Wig it!
This week’s beauty transformation is focused on the ‘wig’ and just how durable and versatile it is. Our model is Ms. Tiny Tshegisi, the CBET Group Sales and Marketing Executive who leaped out of her comfort zone when she agreed to be revamped by Bertha Olorato Nyame trading as ‘Wigs by Bertha’.
In her day-to-day look Tshegisi opts for the bare and extremely natural look. She considers a bright shade of lipstick adventurous. Bertha specialises in custom-made wigs. As the client you bring your own weave depending on the style and type of hair you want.
The look depends on the style, length and density you want. “A full wig is five bundles but in most cases we use only two bundles of hair.” Bertha then styles the weave as per your wish, for example, trimmed into the Kim K Bob or a long side parted look. Custom-made wigs are not only versatile but they are durable and can be used multiple times according to Bertha.
“Virgin hair is not cheap but it is good quality, it is not processed and it lasts long. Essentially you treat your wig as if it was real hair.” The advice is to treat, condition and wash your wig to remove product build-up as you would your natural hair.
This will also give it volume and hydrate it.” The trick with her wigs is that she uses a ‘lace closure’ which has individual hairs sown on it to give the impression of a natural scalp. “Only use a paddle brush to brush your wig.” Make-up was done courtesy of Natalie Stevens; who you can also follow on instagram on Nat.Ured.
