'We Must Praise' group launched

Botswana’s first gospel ensemble, We Must Praise (WMP), attracted multitudes to their official launch at Limkokwing University this past Friday. WMP is a group of youngsters from different churches all with the purpose of praising God.

The show, which served as the official launch of the group attracted an audience that filled three quarters of Limkokwing’s 3000 people capacity hall. Gracing and performing at the event was South African gospel singers, Hlengiwe Ntombela, Puleng March (from Joyous Celebration) and Omega Khunou from Spirit of Praise. The WMP choir served as backup singers to the SA artists and also played instruments for all their songs.

In his speech, the group founder and director Vusumudzi Botshelo (Vusi) said as youth, they are determined to transform the gospel music industry in Botswana by giving it a serious approach. “Gospel music is not well recognised in Botswana so we have taken this bold step as young people and we are determined and committed to make a change in the industry,” said Botshelo.

The show started with a worship dance by a young local dance group, The Chosen. This was followed by WMP choir with their own composition called We must praise. The crowd was swayed by the theme song Healer sang by Boitshepo Tlhabiwe. In closing Omega lead praise songs  which energized the crowd.
