Voice of Change gives gospel, makes a positive impact through music
Living by the notion together we can go far, a group of youth from different parts of Gaborone gathered under a sole mission to give higher praises and worship the creator in music. Voice of change (VOC) is a modern gospel music group of young people whose age ranges between 18 and 35 years old. Their style of delivering the gospel to their audience is made up of a divergent series of voices ranging from soprano to bass that is backed with live instruments.
The different music styles displayed by the group is influenced by its accommodation for people from all walks of life with different worship styles which gives them a niche in the highest of all music positions. From their first show of only 100 spectators in 2016 held at the University of Botswana amphitheatre, the group has managed to bring together hundreds of fans to their music shows with the latest being the hymn night.
In an interview with this publication, the group founder and president Lunga Kgosithama said that he is happy with the group’s achievements since they are now almost in the same level with the South African gospel music giants Joyous Celebration. “We have had an opportunity to share stages with some of the renowned international artists from across Africa and as a result we have been able to earn the needed experience,” he said. Kgosithama further said that their main intention remains redeeming souls into the kingdom of Christ while giving their supporters good music as well.
“Our vision is to grow and be celebrated both inside and outside the country while serving God,” he said. He added that the group does not only focus on rendering music but also in improving the general citizenry. “We have had an opportunity through Kgosi Gaborone of Batlokwa to help in social responsibility missions in Tlokweng alongside him.”
