Tonota hosts Urban Music concert on Boxing Day

The first-ever urban music festival to be held in Tonota village is expected to attract over 10 000 people. Dubbed ‘Ga borangolo Music Concert’, the event will be held on December 26 at Tapela farms starting from 2pm to 5 am.

Speaking to Vibe the event organiser and founder, Dithuso Selepeng said the festival is meant to entertain the youth in Tonota village. “We want this festival to be modern, vibrant, youthful and more urban,” said Selepeng.

The show will only feature the urban youthful music. “We are only featuring youthful and modern genre because our target is the youth. We want the youth in Tonota to have entertainment in their village during the holidays,” said Selepeng. He said they have invited over 25 local artists including ATI, Berry Heart, Mapetla, LaTim and other upcoming artists and DJs including DJ Goveya, DJ Krispin, DJ Dadread and others.

Selepeng said they are expecting over 10 000 people for the concert as it is a major vibrant festival that has never happened in Tonota village. “With the efforts we have put on preparing for this event since the year began, we are expecting a significant number of young people to attend the festival,” he said adding that tickets will be sold for P150 per person. There will also be promotions, liquor  and giveaways, he said.

The festival will now be an annual event in Tonota village. Among the sponsors includes the Ministry of Youth Sports and Culture, Cresta Botsalo Hotels, The voice and Francistown City Council.
