The diva speaks
Diva Vebrok will tonight celebrate ten years in the music and entertainment industry.
Veronica Brooks affectionately known as ‘Diva Vebrok’ will tonight be celebrating her tens years in the music industry. The ‘Thanks giving ceremony’ will take place at the Empire Lounge (Old United Cafe) this evening starting at 6pm. Under her wing she has four successful albums and one single, produced both in Botswana and South Africa.
The diva says she notices that Botswana artists are not working closely together for the benefit of the growth of the music industry and she believes it is about time Botswana musicians supported each other. Her ‘Thanks giving ceremony’ will be an opportunity for her to instil the spirit of collaboration and togetherness with other local artists.
“The main reason for the event is to instil the spirit of team work and encourage more collaboration among Batswana artists just like in our neighbouring countries. I believe that this could be possible since the Setswana saying, ‘Kgetsi ya tsie e kgonwa ke go tshwaraganelwa’. “I will also be introducing some of my newly discovered artists tonight and to make the day more memorable I will also be releasing my new single track, featuring David titled ‘Oteke’; this is a mix of Nigerian and Zambian sounds and when loosely translated the track inspirers people to ‘live’.
Diva Vebrok further explains that the inspiration for the song is to encourage lovers to forgive each other and always know that both a man and a woman can make mistakes. It comes after her previous single, ‘’Sorry babe” The diva also encourages female artists to stand up for themselves and not depend on men for whatever they want to achieve in the industry.
“In that regard I want to be exemplary to women and show them that we can. I have even managed to manage good artists like Captain Dira and I was the first person to bring an international artist, Khanda Bongo Man to Botswana
