Taking it easy at Thapong Arts Centre
Thapong has been in existence for more than a decade but was given a facelift in recent years and now boasts a restaurant, arts supplies store and art gallery. Thapong plays hosts to arts related events, and is a common venue for markets and evening gigs.
The gallery is definitely the main attraction and you can always see the immense talent by local artists, engage a few who have workshops on the premises or even negotiate a sale if you saw an artwork that you really appreciate. The restaurant, Number One Ladies Coffee House, is a cosy and artistically rustic little hangout spot that probably serves the best gemmer (ginger beer) in town.
The décor will impress and give your mood a boost. The restaurant offers a wide range of dishes that include steaks, burgers and chips, as well as sodas, hot and alcoholic beverages, served by friendly staff. You can relax outside on the couches and watch the little ones running around the play area. The fresh air is refreshing and although the scenery is nothing to write home about, it is great to unwind in an artistic space while you enjoy a meal with loved ones, read a book or just zone out.
