Staggata drops debut album

Pinkie Matoso, who goes by the stage name Staggata, has just dropped her first album dubbed Thusang. The six-track album boasts House-Kwasa tunes that aim to sensitise the youth that they are responsible for their future and can lead Africa to a bright future.

In an interview with Vibe, the vibrant youth noted that the album is in popular demand, especially by the elderly, as they believe that indeed it has meaningful message. The title track Thusang, challenges youth to change their behaviour in order to reduce behave well to minimise challenges such incidents of social ills such as passion killings and HIV/AIDS. Staggata said that she has been in the music industry for about seven years as a dancer. She noted that Slizer has always been her number one and she believes that she takes after her.

“I cannot shy away from saying I have reached my destination so well because now I can confidently do my thing just like Slizer my inspiration. Her song Bazuka even inspired me further,” she said. She also said that she is grateful to her uncle Simon Matoso and cousin, Mopati Setswhwaelo, who have supported her since day one. Staggata has also had an opportunity to dance for Chariot last year. She appreciates the skills that she learnt there.

Her song Se tshwarwa ke ntsa pedi advises people in relationships to have mutual respect towards one another and also not give up easily on their loved ones. Another interesting track is Folane, which encourages everyone to keep on the straight and narrow, and avoid criminal activities. Stagatta noted that the album is uplifting and positive, and also strives to create a nation of peace and unity. “My music encourages people to build themselves and reach their full potential. It is about upliftment and respect for each other. I encourage everyone to get a copy and enjoy the good message it spreads,” she said.a
