SKY Girls BW launch new radio drama

SKY Girls BW is slated to launch a brand new radio drama on August 20th.

Titled ‘Matswaka Bae’ derived from (Matswakabele), the drama will air on RB2 during SKY Live (between 12:30HRS-13:00HRS) and a Sunday repeat on Yarona FM at 1300HRS. Other repeats will be online on the SKY girls bw Facebook page.

The drama, according to a press release, tackles real life issues in a fresh way. It is centred around the main character, Rati, who moves to a new school.
“We follow her friendships and challenges through an exciting season of drama. Anyone with an interest in real life stories and drama will love Matswaka Bae, and it is not just for teenage girls,” the release explains.

The release says that the drama is the first of its kind to be set in a Botswana school. “We are so excited to represent girls’ lives through drama, and we hope everyone relates to the stories,” says Gaone Manatong who is the SKY spokesperson. The audience can interact with the drama through the RB2 talk show immediately after each episode, through calls and sms their thoughts about the show.

The drama is a culmination of auditions that were held in June. The name Matswaka Bae represents the fact that teenagers are faced daily with a number of challenges, eventually becoming mixed up.

“Matswaka Bae represents the reality of being a teenager, and will also provide solutions so that girls can tackle their challenges head-on,” the release states.
