Royal Tenors shine in song
Royal Tenors left the audience begging for more at Sidilega Private Hospital ground-breaking ceremony with their smooth opera classical music. Everyone seemed enthralled when Malebogo Setuke and Oteng Zachariah belted out in Acappela tunes.
Even Minister of Health and Wellness Dorcus Makgato admitted that the duo could heal a patient on their deathbed with their soothing music. “As long as the Royal Tenors sing, I am happy. I couldn’t even relate to or understand some of the languages in which they presented their first song but I enjoyed it to the core,” she said.
Royal Tenors, which was established in 2010, was initially a group of three members including famed Afro pop crooner, Lizibo, who later left the group to pursue a solo career. They sing in different languages including Spanish, Italian, French, Setswana and English. The duo said that they usually perform at corporate events, weddings and anniversaries, and appreciated that people always give them positive feedback regarding their art. Setuke said that they were inspired by Ildivo to be where they are now, adding that they also feature choral music in church choirs.
MC of the event, Dr Sayed Shakil Rasul also commended Royal Tenors, noting that music has no language, adding that that their singing was flawless and amazing. Setuke noted that although opera is not yet popular in Botswana, many people are interested in their music. “I urge those who appreciate opera music to book us for their events as we are always available to perform,” he said.
