Rantao gearing up for the Boston African Festival
Local songbird Kearoma Rantao will return to the studio soon to record her second album. News about the album follows the release of the video for one of her hit songs from her debut album titled When the Music Plays.
The debut album, Let the Music Play was released in 2013. Although she had previously shot the video to the song, she decided to go back to the drawing board and conceptualise a totally fresh and new video that she is content with. This new take of her video came out this April; and it was shot by MODD Media with her younger brother, Thabo Rantao coming on board as the Director.
The other good news is that she will soon be jetting off to South Africa where she is slated to work on one of the songs for her new album with the one and only Ringo Madlingozi. The duo met last year during the Be Mobile Ke Ya Rona Festival, and they both performed in Palapye.
“I will be leaving for South Africa soon, where we will work on the song,” she says. Rantao says she has already compiled the material for her upcoming album and that she is looking at having around 17 songs in the album. Record giants such as Universal and Sony insist on an album having 17 songs as one of the requirements for those who wish to work with them as distributors.
Besides news about her second album, this July, Rantao will leave for Boston, USA, where she is slated to perform at the Boston African Festival. The annual event takes place on July 27th. And while in the US, she will develop some ideas that she has been mapping out with some artists who are based there. “I am hoping that we will meet in studio and make some music,” she notes.
