Naisi Boy makes a comeback

Naisi Boy (real name Lesego Motlhagodi) has returned from his hiatus with renewed zest and energy.

The ‘Amanikiniki’ hit maker has not only returned to share music hits but has stretched his scope of interests to being a record label and clothing line owner. He recently told VIBE that his clothing line, Home Brewed, illustrates that anything made locally is superb and worthy to be celebrated. Naisi Boy has partnered with Thabang Gasebowe, who is the manager for Home Brewed Record label.

Gasebowe said that the brand has international appeal, as he narrates that anything that is made from home is beautiful. The clothing line has received positive response from social media users and many of them expressed that they appreciate the talent that Batswana have. The line boasts beautifully branded t-shirts, caps, tracksuit tops and drinking glasses. According to Gasebowe, the brand has also been well received across borders.  “The label has been well received by South Africans through our connections with the popular DJ Sbu who is our support that side,” he said.

Naisi Boy has been to the drawing board and now has all his ducks in a row. He promises nothing but handful work to Batswana as he says that he has been in the studio for six months doing research for his record label and his single track, ‘Ga se ya bana’.  “My mission is to take local music to another level. 'Ga se ya bana' means seriousness. I am simply presenting my maturity level in the industry, and doing it for all those who appreciate good music,” he said.

When he first appeared on the music scene, he sailed with Kwaito genre but he has now transitioned to hip-hop. “I looked to the USA for musical inspiration and lyrically, I identify with Botswana rap. I want to appeal to the youth and so my music should resonate with them,” he says. His single is expected to drop on the 28th January.

The 27-year-old Naisi Boy reiterated that Batswana should expect more from him as he has worked hard to create  quality sound. “Having been in the music industry for eight years now has opened my eyes and grown my appreciation for quality and better work. I can confidently state that I have grown from zero to hero. Fittingly, I have also named my album Zero to Hero. The album will be released in April and will be a banger,” he says.
