Multi-talented instrumentalist King Bisho switches to disco music
Botswana disco maestro popularly known as King Bisho is a multi-talented instrumentalist who have tried his hand in stinkane, guitar, and marimba before learning how to play a keyboard.
Speaking to Vibe in a recent interview, the artist who hails from Goonku in Tloaneng revealed that the music bug hit him early in life as he went on to try his hands in many traditional instruments before switching to the keyboard which he said elevated him musically. “My love for disco then took over while I was still a student at St Joseph’s college,” he said. After completing his Cambridge, the artist enrolled at World of Music College in Gaborone where he sharpened his music skills with the aim of becoming one of the local celebrated artists.
In 2009, King Bisho dropped his first album which was tittled Iminyaka a Ndebele term that refers to years. He noted that the album did pretty well in the local market something which assisted him to get recognition from other musicians and instrumentalists alike. His sophomore album Bamphethe also did exceptionally well before he met former Splash producer, keyboardist and engineer Thando Zinto who recorded his latest album titled Hlabano.
The artist who doubles as a businessman in stock feed disclosed that he was inspired by South African disco legend Dan Tshanda who owns Dalom music who fan based is mostly in Botswana, Namibia and Zimbabwe to follow disco music. Dalom music produced great artists including the late Don B, Mazolwane, Penwell Kunene, Joseph Tshimange (MTSRIP) as well as Patricia Majalisa, Dalom Kid, Slindile and Matshikos, among many others.
King Bisho strongly believes that this time around nothing is not going to stop him as his main aim is to revive the local disco music which is overshadowed by House genre. Produced at Bullet Music Production, Hlabano is a beautifully programmed album whose lyrics and vocals and backing vocals of the album makes it an album and a half.
