Mmokolodi launch in Ghetto a disaster

Charma Gal’s much anticipated Mmokolodi album launch held at Francistown Old Stadium was a flop as it failed to attract a sizeable audience. The number of people who attended were ten times less than when she launched Sekuta at BOCCIM hall a year ago.

Her alleged bad behaviour could be to blame as she was said to have been rude to some performing artists, fans and bouncers. When Vibe arrived at the venue at around 10pm, the place was deserted except for a group of artists and bouncers who were bitterly complaining at the bad treatment they had received from Charma Gal and her Gaborone crew. Chase Dipapa, a well-known producer and artist who was not impressed, tolf Vibe that Charma Gal had become too big for her boots.

“She wanted us to wait for her outside the stadium but there was no way that we could wait there in the cold weather and risk being attacked by petty thieves,” he said. He further said that some angry artists had intentionally sabotaged her because of her bad behaviour. “Most of the artists started turning back their fans claiming the show to have been postponed,” he said. Vibe established that although some Ghetto based artists arrived at the venue well in time, they were surprised to be turned away at the main entrance. “We learnt that there was a message left by Charma Gal that artists billed to perform at the show must not be allowed to enter the venue until she and her crew had arrived,” a source said. One bouncer did not hide his displeasure with Charma Gal’s alleged behaviour. “How do you expect to make a successful show when one has known petty criminals by the gate?

A good number of people did not bother to enter the stadium for their own safety,” he said. Another artists who bemoaned Charma Gal’s behaviour is Zion Kwaito new kid on the block Acuz. Although the artist was officially included in the show line-up and also assisted Charma Gal with show logistics including adverts, he was furious that the singer had turned on him. “Charma Gal must learn to respect other artists.

After all that I did to assist her with her show logistics, she claimed to not know me. I sm not angry that she failed to pay me but more irked by her ill treatment of artists who assisted her to prepare for the show,” he said. He added that he was prepared to support the show all the way only for Charma Gal to claim that she does not even know him.

“When I approached her combi after her perfomance asking about my payment, I was shocked when she started claiming that she does not know me. How could she not know me when she had been communicating with me before the show? She sped off in her combi leaving me in dust without single coin,” he fumed. Efforts to interview Charma Gal after the show proved futile as she refused to comment and locked herself inside her mini-bus.

Efforts to solicit a comment throughout the weekend failed as her phone rang unanswered. According to reliable sources, the show raked in only a paltry P16,000 which resulted with artists engaged being paid varying cash being paid paltry amounts between P100 to P400.
