Miss Hope 2016 beauties crowned

The grand finale of the Miss Hope Pageant took place on Friday at Travel Lodge. Winners were crowned in two categories, namely Miss Teen Hope and Miss Hope.

The two winners are expected to represent Botswana at the Miss Hope Pageants International that is slated to take place in Cape Town, South Africa, on November 22nd-27th.

Tebo Kaelo walked away with the title of Miss Teen Hope while Phatsimo Kelly and Olerato Rantuana were crowned the first and second princess respectively. Feandri Kotze emerged as the Miss Hope winner. Naisilo Jacob was crowned the first princess, while Mosa Balesamang came third.

According to a press release, prior to the grand finale, the finalists went through a rigorous judging process that was held over five months. “The pageant builds contestants to have the loving heart to the community in order to promote a strong message of hope. It also aims to build the girl/boy child,” it reads.

The release also states that the pageant differs with other pageants as it does not focus on glitz and glamour. The pageant organisers worked with the Cheshire Foundation of Botswana as well as Gakgatla chief for the 2016/17 period. The pageant queens are expected to spend their independence holidays with the Gakgatla community, according to the press release.

The queens won scholarships from GIPS and tablets from M.D ARTRON enterprises. The first princesses also clinched themselves hampers from Dodgee, while the second princesses won vouchers from Cross Gold. Other sponsors included Fidelity Print Mark and Town Lodge.
