Miss Bright Future slated for May

Social and Community Office in Mogobane will host a beauty contest for these children in May, in a bid to promote inclusion of orphans and vulnerable children in mainstream society. A total number of 19 girls aged between 11 and 13 years will this year contest for the crown of Miss Bright Future crown, under the theme, ‘Yes I can’.

This year’s pageant would also allow those who are neither orphans or vulnerable to take part in the pageant as compared to last year. The Coordinator of the pageant Makgarebe Nthoiwa, told 

Vibe that she decided to do the pageant as a way of  empowering these children, and building their confidence to show them that they too can do anything.
“The main purpose of the beauty pageant is to show orphans and vulnerable children that despite the fact that they do not have parents and some are failing at school they can still use their talents to earn a living, interact  with people and enjoy themselves,” she said.

Nthoiwa further said that this could enable the young girls to be brave enough to have their voice heard and not shy away from mingling with people because of their situations. She is of the view that unearthing these young souls, hidden talents would surely enhance their self-esteem and confidence. The organisers have pleaded for further support for the event, which they plan to host on May 27, to make it a resounding success.

Some of the entertainers who supported the initiative last year include D-nice, Wasekai, HT Tautona and DJ Chocklat to mention a few. Clothing designers such as Mokgabo Fabrics, Funcky Resy Clothing Creations and Rockabonke had the girls looking stunning in some of their outfit during the pageant last year, while Ozzy Entertainment and Boingotlo Seitshiro took care of the photography.
