All roads lead to Maun this April for the inaugural Maun Rocks music festival. The event, which is organised by Medumo Entertainment, is pencilled to take place on April 14th boasts a 100% local artists line-up that showcases some of the hottest local acts.

The event will serve as a pre-party for those who are intending to be in Maun for the annual Mascom Derby event that takes place on April 15th. Revellers can look forward to performances by Dramaboi, La Timmy, Ban T, Slizer, Izzy, Gaone, Chabo, Chrispin, Mosako, Gouveia, Fondo Fire, Dr Tawanda, Robbie Rob, Chris Manto 7, Chris Pounds, Big Pun, Ponka, Maximum, VJ Mitchell, and Cue. Adding flavour to the event will be guest appearances by Metro FM award winner, Vee as well as Rraagwe Tinana.

The event is slated for Maun Sports Complex and entrance is P80. Earlier during the day, there will be a free fitness event hosted by Obert and the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment, Sports Culture Development.

According to one of the event organisers, Benah Kobotwe, they wish to demystify the belief that an event cannot be successful if it does not have an international artist. “We want to prove that even with a 100 percent local line-up, an entertainment event can be successful,” she says.

Kobotwe explains that when selecting artists to headline the show, they considered artists with new material and their popularity, pointing out that other artists on the line-up such as Ponka are relatively unknown but their music is widely appreciated. She further says that VIP tickets are already sold out, adding that they vow to give VIP ticket holders an experience worth their money.
