Little princesses prepare to stun Bulgaria

Two of Botswana rising stars in the beauty pageant world will represent the country at the upcoming Little Miss Princess of the World pageant.

The duo, Tshephang Khan who was crowned the winner of the local pageant and her runner-up Wedu Sebina aged 14 years will depart for the city of Sophia in Bulgaria on June 19th accompanied by their parents. Khan was crowned the winner at the finals that were held at GICC on December 6th.

According to the Director of the local pageant, Tebbie Lebanna, a total of 85 countries are expected to participate. Each country is permitted to bring more than one beauty queen. There will be close to 200 hopefuls eyeing the crown.

The pageant focuses on tourism, culture and friendships among the children aged between 10-14 years. “One of the reasons that we are organising this pageant is that we want to give the future generation a chance to look at life in a different angle. We also wish to create future role models,” explains Lebanna.

She says that preparations are ongoing to ensure that the local reps are ready for the international stage. The duo is presently working on a photo shoot for portfolios to be submitted to the pageant. “They are also researching about our culture and tourism. Practice will begin during the school vacations,” she explains.

While they are awaiting feedback from possible sponsors, she says that they are still looking for more support from the corporate community. Khan and Sebina depart the country for Bulgaria on June 19th and the pageant takes place between June 21st and 28th.
