Kast's tlatsa lebala campaign on course

When bantuka singer – Kast, saw how South African motswako artist Casper Nyovest was able to fill up the Coca Cola dome in Johannesburg, it inspired him to take that leap of faith.

He believed that the same concept could be used here at home. But instead of a dome (which we don’t have), he reckoned that we’d settle for the National Stadium. This meant getting various local artistes to perform at a full capacity stadium!

It was a long shot by any means! Kast’s idea sparked off debates in social media with many wondering if it was tenable and which artistes would raise their hands to be counted. Others scoffed the idea as ridiculous and that he’s mad to even suggest it. But according to Kast, the controversy that surrounds his idea is exactly what he had wanted.

He wanted to get people talking as this would show where the country is in terms of the arts and music industry. He said that the debates among people also serve as a means of research for artists in the country.

Concerning the actual show, Kast says the idea is for all the artists performing to be wearing 100% local designers’ wear, the stage is to be designed by locals, basically most if not all props that go with the show will be local. In this way musicians won’t be the only ones given a platform but the arts as a whole.

Furthermore, once the campaign is launched officially, he plans on calling all the stakeholders and artistes together for what he has named tlatsa lebala pitso where they will get together and share ideas concerning the campaign.
