Helen Dikobe sets Chez Nicolas on fire with sizzling show

Chez Nicolas Lounge was the place to be on Sunday evening when jazz lovers converged to enjoy a musical treat from songstress Helen Dikobe.
The songstress looked ravishing what with her youthful fit physique, and clad in an elegant white jumpsuit accessorised with German fabric. She dished out soothing jazz song, her melodious and enchanting voice serenading those in attendance.

As they say a good foundation does not shake, so Dikobe started her performance with one of her old songs, ‘Mmino wa setso’, which kept all the eyes glued to the stage. In an interview after her performance, she noted that although she has improved her craft and released new material, she still wanted people to recognise where she had come from hence she started off by playing an old hit. Despite the fact that she has been quiet for some time, one could simply tell that she has been busy sharpening her craft as the ‘Helen Encore Unplugged’ show gave the audience the best out of the soulful jazz artist.

One of the attendants of the night show told Vibe that he was not a jazz lover but was impressed by the singer’s performance. “I do not regret coming here. I see this lady as an inspiration and urge other artists to take a leaf from her book and invest in their craft. They should take time to improve their music because it would not only benefit them but the entire music industry,” he said.

One of her popular songs Mabalane, which she performed with her cousin, also got the crowd excited. The message in the song like,  ‘Goo ra motho go thebe phatswa’ meaning there is no better place than home, probably resonated with a lot of people, who sang along. Dikobe also performed one song from her new album called ‘Gaeng’.

In attendance to show support for the songstress he has collaborated with was Afro pop artist Eugene Jackson, who added momentum to the electric night.
