Goledzwa music festival is now bigger and better

The annual Goledzwa festival is anticipated to be a bigger and better affair following a change of venue from Thapama Pleasure Is- land to the new Francistown Sports Complex.

The gig, which is held on the 31 De- cember, is going to be quite memorable in the city, says its founder Sydney Boogie Sid Nzala. Nzala recently told VIBE that when he founded the festival with the late DJ Tambai in 2002, they decided to convince Thapama to allow them to host the gig at the hotel although the venue had limited space and strict rules.

“This time around, we have decided to honour the wishes of Francistowners since they have been calling for us toswitch venues. I am very happy to an- nounce that the festival will be moved to the new sports complex due to its ample space and security. At Thapama, the venue had limited space and patrons were not allowed to bring in cooler boxes with their drinks as they were expected to make purchases inside the venue,” he explained. Nzala said that patrons would be allowed to bring in cooler boxes with their alcohol into the stadium.

To make the show more interesting, this year, there is going to be a neon experiment whereby night crawlers will have beer glasses illuminated through neon lights as well as body creams which glow. “Those inside will be required to wear neon glowing glasses to illuminate the stadium in the process making it very interesting and full of fun,” Nzala said.

In the past show, the line-up included local acts in the likes of Sasa Klaas, Drama Boi and Eskimos to mention a few. This year’s line-up includes Team Distant, Lat- imy, B-Block, Bangu, and Han-C of sedi laaka fame as well as Romeo the Stunner, The Dude and Dezb. To make the festival interesting the organisers have decided to have two dance floor where performing artists will entertain revellers as well as another stage where Hip Hop, dance hall and RnB will be dished out by local DJs including the likes of Tumi Black Ace from Yarona FM, DJ Kud and Da Drat. DJs Cue and Kops from Yarona FM will also keep revellers on their toes.

The organisers have engaged more than 200 security guards to keep crimi- nals at bay. As for the entrance fee, a single ticket will be sold for P100 whereas a double ticket goes for P175.
