Ghetto lovebirds Madala vs Kellyjess are inseparable
Francistown’s musician lovebirds known on stage as Madala vs Kellyjess have taken their artistic prowess beyond an album collaboration. The two live-in lovers, who have apparently been dating for the past five years, are officially making music together.
Madala, whose real name is Onkagetse Nfila, will be best remembered for his group Madala and the Mad girls which was known for its electric performances as well as Kutlwano Marena with their classical Dikhwaere hit Ke palami koloi ke palame kuruza ntwa e etla which is still enjoying massive airplay on local radio stations.
Keletso Madubeka (Kellyjess) on the other hand first made her mark in the music industry when she was a dancer for the late house kwasa commander in chief Cisco B who passed away following a fatal road accident. As if that was not enough, Kellyjess was travelling in the same car which claimed the life of her former master. Following the accident, she formed the group Kellyjess which went on to win the annual Northern Presidential awards in 2011 instantly driving her to celebrity stardom.
It was during the same competitions during which she met Madala and the rest as they say is history. The lovebirds who were both interviewed by VIBE admitted that being a celebrity music couple has its ups and downs. Kellyjess admitted that it is challenging as sometimes she finds herself tasked with wading away musical fans making advances at her man but was quick to point out that she is now used to it. “Most of them are normally acting under the influence of alcohol but some are dead serious about snatching away from me something I am now used to,” she said.
Madubeka said that her collaboration with her boyfriend in the song Tlhomela was magical as the song went on to climb musical charts without any difficulty as well as being nominated alongside Mlesho’s Hlomela as the song of the year contenders. Madala on the other hand revealed that working as a couple has its own advantages as he does not have time to be confused by his hordes of fans some of whom have the bad ulterior to bad mouth him behind his partner’s back.
He said that even if a fan can get close to his girlfriend in a suspiciously compromising position, he will always avoid any confrontations and tackle the problem once they arrive home. He also revealed that his collaboration with his girlfriend on their currently circulating album Tlhomela worked wonders as the song increased their fan base across the country as they have gone to tour Ngamiland and other far off areas.
