B-Block breaks out of shell with hit song, "Ghetto"

Francistown based Hip-Hop artist Baboloki Dambe, aka B-Block has dropped yet another smash single called Ghetto featuring Romeo Stunner.

The hit has since last Monday received a positive response from callers on youth local radio station, Yarona FM. The 26-year old Yarona FM Music Awards (YAMA) award winner for his single Top shambol told The Midweek Sun that his first debut album “Patiently waiting” will be released mid this year.

He said that his single Ghetto was inspired by the fact that he was the first artist based in Francistown to be nominated for the YAMAs. According to him, this was enough reason for him to pay tribute to the second city of Botswana with his Ghetto hit song.

Another reason why he composed the song is that, “Ghetto people supported me from day one and I won the award because of their votes. It would be so selfish of me not to pay tribute to my people,” said the rapper. And since Romeo Stunner was also nominated even though he is based in Gaborone but born and raised in Francistown, he felt that they both owed Francistown a collaboration.

The young talented artist describes his single as the best he has ever dropped. “Previously, I concentrated on production at the expense of playing music. I released two singles before Top Shambol & Ghetto,” he said adding that this time around he decided to break away from his shell. He says that after winning the YAMAs many people persuaded him to relocate to Gaborone but he refused to forsake his roots.

B-blok says that Hip-Hop in the country has grown in leaps and bounds. “Back in the days we used to know that only three or four artists were Botswana’s best Hip-Hop artists. That is no longer the case as there are a lot of upcoming artists,” he says.
