All roads leads to Miss Kalanga Tribe event

Being the first of its kind in the Kalanga region, Miss Kalanga Tribe is expected to pull a massive crowd on the 26th of this month in Tutume.

The event has already received a lot of positive response, if the comments on its Facebook page are anything to go by. The brains behind the beauty pageant are Alpha Nchenje, Tshepi Thibedi and Edna Selwane, who share a passion for unearthing raw talent and showing that the Kalanga region has beauty.

In an exclusive interview with Vibe Nchenje said that the trio came up with the event as a way of uniting and reassuring the Kalanga culture and Pride. “This show will render an opportunity for Kalangas from all over to come together and get to know each other better,” she said.

All the contestants are young women from dif- ferent villages in the region, between the ages of 18 and 25.

Although the event is expected to make a state- ment in the Kalanga region she said that there are faced with several teething problems. “Some sponsors have not confirmed, but for now we are sure of Beauty Hub, Champs Botswana and Cul de Sac,” she said. Nchenje said that they would share a line- up once the artists they approached had confirmed their performances. “Even the prizes to be won will be announced in due course,” she said.
