Air Botswana successfully completes C-check maintenance on first aircraft

Air Botswana has successfully completed work on the first of three aircraft scheduled for C-check maintenance. Following this milestone achievement, the aircraft was released into service on the 9th July 2016.

The second aircraft is scheduled to enter the Air Botswana hangar for commencement of its own C-check maintenance next week, following which the final aircraft will be worked on.

As intimated by Air Botswana Director of Engineering & Maintenance Winston Moloigaswe, we are happy that we have been able to successfully complete the first aircraft in accordance to the set standards and procedures for such extensive work.

We are confident that we will be able to do the same with the remaining two aircraft. C-checks are the largest scheduled maintenance events within Air Botswana AMO’s approvals, granted by the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) and are conducted every 5000 Flight Hours, equivalent to about two and half years of operation based on Air Botswana’s flight schedule. The maintenance requires a large majority of the aircraft components to be inspected; specifically the structure and systems of the aircraft.

The ongoing maintenance work demonstrates Air Botswana’s in-house engineering capability and high standards as can be seen by the airline’s improved On-Time-Performance and zero findings of the IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA).
