A match made in heaven
Kagiso Nitombe, 30, and his lady Nyalalani Chemist, 29, celebrated their wedding on Sunday 27 March in Botale village.
Nitombe, born and raised in Ramokgwebana, said that he will never forget the day he set his eyes on his queen. It was in August 2006 when Nitombe attended a festival with two of his friends at Mogo Hotel oblivious that this was the day he would meet his sweetheart. At the festival he says, “We sat next to the two girls – I didn’t know that one of them is my wife!” But the moment he set his eyes on one of the ladies his heart began to beat so fast that he felt the lady was his divine partner.
“It was the first time I experienced that kind of feeling. I didn’t know how to approach her but fortunately my friends knew her”, he says. Nitombe then introduced himself to her and even asked for her contacts. Everything just seemed magical as things happened so fast yet there was a spirit of agreement between them.
The most challenging factor was that Nitombe was just left with a week to go to Malaysia for further studies. For five full years he studied at the Multimedia University, Malaysia, for his BA (Hons) Banking and Finance. But even when he was that far away he kept believing that one day he’d tie the knot and stay with his sweetheart.
“We used to communicate everyday, using all modes of communication and it seemed as if she was with me in Malaysia”, he adds. Nyalalani Chemist, an Environmental Health Inspector at the Tlokweng Council expressed her happiness at finally tying the knot with her beau. Of her wedding experience she cherishes the Patlo ceremony.
“During Patlo I was kept away from him and spent sometime with some women who dressed me and prepared me to meet my man”, she says. And her smile became permanently fixed on her face the moment her elders handed her to her husband at the gate. “It was nice, I loved it and I’ve long heard about Patlo and it was quite an experience”, she said.
