Gov’t received P490m grants from EU

A total of nine ministries benefitted from the P490, 800, 000 grants that government received from the European Union over three financial years. The grants came from the 10th European Development Fund and was paid during the financial years 2014/15; 2015/16 and 2016/17, Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Kenneth Matambo told parliament this week. He said the ministries which benefited from the grants were State President; Education and SkillsDevelopment; Health and Wellness; Labour and Home Affairs; Trade and Industry; Youth, Sport and Culture; Local Government and Rural Development; Environment, Wildlife and Tourism and Finance and Development Planning. “All the funds that were received during the three financial years that are referred to in the question were fully utilised,” Matambo said in response to MP for Nkange, Edwin Batshu who had asked him to appraise Parliament on the amount government received as grants from the 10th European Union through the European Development Fund (EDF 10) during the 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17 financial years.
