Neo More ventures into consultancy

Driven by passion to help people to venture into businesses and contribute to economic development and growth, youthful Precious Neo More has started a business consultancy firm after working in the same field for three years. She operates PLI Consultants which provides business consultancy services, company registration, bank account opening, tax clearance, annual returns, trading licenses and PPADB registration. In an interview with the Business Trends, More said she started the business because she wanted to empower and encourage people to operate business and reduce high unemployment rate. “I love helping people and one thing that motivated me to operate this business is to help people operate their own businesses,” said More. Her office is located at Gaborone West Industrial and currently she has one employee. She said starting up the business was not difficult for her as she used her personal savings and has never been assisted by any financial institution since she started operating in 2008. The business is registered with Association of Business Consultants of Botswana. “The business is doing well. In a week I can have five clients and most of them are referrals. This means other customers are satisfied with my services and they attract other customers,” said More. On Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), she visits senior schools and offer presentations on entrepreneurship and business skills. Among the challenges More said government does not support consultancy business but only focused on manufacturing and other businesses. “Government does not fund us, so we struggle for ourselves. Even during the exhibitions like youth business expo and women business expo, consultancy businesses are not qualified to participate,” said More. She has participated in Gabane Youth Business Pitso for the past two years and it has helped her get exposure and network with other youth businesses. “I participated in Gabane Business Pitso because it was organized by private individuals who allowed every entrepreneur and every business to participate. And last year I participated in Women’s Business expo although I was told consultancy businesses do not qualify, I just pressed and ended up exhibiting at the expo,” she said. More wants to expand her business operations to other parts of the country and employ more people.
