Ministry of Health last week launched the month of prayer through an opening session held under this year's theme: ‘Developing a transformative mindset'.

Dr Mareko Ramotsababa who was speaking at the event, highlighted that the initial focus was on HIV/AIDS but has since embodied other health issues. He shared that they have included other conditions including; Non-Communicable Diseases, COVID-19 and Gender Based Violence (GBV). He highlighted that, even though there are significant strides made towards the fight against HIV/AIDS, there are still gaps that would need individual and collective responsibility to bridge. Therefore they believe that by holding prayer sessions, they encourage both the workers and patients to have hope as they get treatment for different ailments.

PRO at the Ministry of Health, Dr Christopher Nyanga said that this is an applaudable mission that they have decided to take at their ministry.

“As the Ministry of Health we believe that our staff should also know about the power of prayer and spirituality in giving them strength to serve. It is them who care for all the people who have been affected by road traffic accidents, NCDs, HIV/AIDS and all health conditions,” he said, noting that it is important that they also participate in this prayer sessions so that they gain the strength to continue serving their nation with botho and great devotion to duty.

Different speakers also called upon individuals to adopt mindset change which will help in gearing up to the national transformations. The Ministry will hold these prayer sessions every Wednesday during the month of September.
