In a press statement this week, the campaign organisers, Success Sports Africa, said that from its inception, Botswana has been a breeding ground for exceptional talent, individuals whose dedication and skill have firmly planted the nation's flag on the international sports map.
According to Success Sports Africa these remarkable figures haven't merely exhibited extraordinary prowess and sportsmanship; they've also demonstrated an unshakeable commitment to elevating Botswana's reputation on the global sporting stage.
The ‘100 Sportspersons of All Time’ initiative is a monumental platform established to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of Batswana athletes, coaches, administrators, journalists, healthcare professionals, educators, and other sports luminaries who have left an indelible mark on the nation's sporting legacy.
In a bid to engage the public and the sports community in the selection process, an innovative and interactive voting system has been introduced. Members of the public will have the opportunity to cast their votes for their
favourite sportsperson through both an SMS gateway and a traditional ballot system.
Ballots will be readily accessible at leading retailers across the country, ensuring that every citizen has an equal opportunity to participate and pay tribute to those who have dedicated their lives to enhancing Botswana's global sporting prominence.
From the 1st of October 2023, Choppies Stores and JB Sports outlets throughout Botswana will feature ballot boxes where Batswana can submit the names of individuals they believe have made significant contributions.
These nominees could be family members, relatives, friends, whether still with us or having passed on.
