National Basketball league began this past weekend for local fans, after a short break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

In an interview, Secretary of the BBA League Committee, Ratidzo Murwisi tells Sun Sports that there are six teams for the womens league, while for the men there are two leagues and each league has 6 teams, too. She says the Basketball association is excited for this league after holding the last one in 2019, before the Covid outbreak. However, she says that the teams doubt their readiness for this league.

"The teams are a bit worried about inconsistent fitness levels as there has been a false start to the league already," says Murwisi. Nonetheless, they are excited and ready to kick start. The first league games were held at the SSKB grounds in Mogoditshane, and they anticipate the ending of the league to be December 11th with 2023 starting with the playoffs.

Murwisi reiterates that they look forward to basketball starting up again, as it has been a long time coming.

"We look forward to a league that is going to be vibrant with more people focused as well," she says.
