Ryno's Torque Show lights up motorsport scene with Bandleng drag racing event
Lobatse town is gearing up for an adrenaline-pumping weekend as the much anticipated 'Lobatse Race Wars' drag racing event is set to take place this Saturday. Organized by Basil 'Ryno' Muzangwa, the event promises a thrilling showcase of modified cars from South Africa, Botswana, and Zimbabwe.
With the support of Spin City Botswana and Lobatse Town Council, the event aims to fuel the growth of the Motorsport industry in the region. In an exclusive interview with Sun Sports, Ryno, the mastermind behind the event, revealed that the drag racing event will feature a diverse array of vehicles.
While the focus will be on street-legal cars – those you see with hidden horsepower – unique builds will also grace the drag strip. Among the prominent names from South Africa, expect to see the likes of Zakazal F80 M3, Molly the S3, Night Fury the M240i, Storm7R, and the Brown X5, known for its epic M6 race against Zakazal. Zimbabwe will be represented by the King GTI, adding an international flair to the event.
This event is more than just a battle of horsepower; it's a collaborative effort to boost the Motorsport industry in both Botswana and South Africa. Ryno's Torque Show from South Africa and Spin City BW Events Management from Botswana have joined forces to showcase the best of both countries' car enthusiasts, ensuring a power-packed racing spectacle. With the event drawing near, over 30 cars from various categories are currently registered to compete. Ryno hinted that the front-wheel-drive (FWD) category might have the most significant representation, possibly doubling the total number on the day.
The competitors are ready to unleash their finely-tuned machines on the drag strip, igniting fierce rivalries and electrifying moments for the crowd to revel in. Part of what makes 'Lobatse Race Wars' stand out is its inclusivity. Ryno expressed that the event is open to anyone with a passion for racing, where drivers come with their cars and leave with the thrill of competition.
Naturally, safety is a priority, and only licensed drivers will be permitted to participate. Additionally, alcohol will not have any place on the racing scene, and all participants must be registered for the competition. Signing indemnity forms on the day will complete the necessary preparations, ensuring a secure environment for all. Ryno's Torque Show, a brand that has gained recognition in the drag racing sphere, has its roots in Botswana. Originating from Ryno's childhood nickname "Rhino," the brand is passionately dedicated to Motorsport. Supported by the business "Airbags & Dashboard Systems Africa," Ryno's Torque Show aims to invest in Motorsport and drive its growth.
The ultimate goal is to attract more sponsors, create employment opportunities, and enhance business development in the automotive industry. Above all, the brand aspires to inspire and have fun, fueling the passion for Motorsport across the region. The excitement is palpable as enthusiasts from near and far eagerly await the event.
From car fanatics and petrolheads to stance lovers, the anticipation has been building up since this is the first drag racing event in Lobatse since 2014. As Ryno puts it, "the sky is the limit," and it seems like every road will lead to Lobatse on the race day.
