Fresh off their victory in the Debswana Jwaneng Mine General Manager Soccer Fiesta, Jwaneng Galaxy FC is now focused on the upcoming CAF Champions League First preliminary round. The team, encouraged by their weekend success, has identified areas of improvement that they intend to address before their highly anticipated match against the Namibian side, African Stars FC, on August 17th in Botswana. As they prepare to take on the continental stage again, Galaxy aims to ensure that they are in peak form before the 17th.
After an impressive showing in the CAF Champions League last season, Jwaneng Galaxy is ready to take on the challenge once again with renewed energy and ambition. Having secured a commendable four points in the group stages last season, the team is determined to surpass their previous performance and make a more lasting impact.
At the Debswana Jwaneng Mine General Manager Soccer Fiesta, Jwaneng Galaxy showcased a solid performance, winning the tournament and using it as an opportunity to assess their squad, particularly the new signings of Olebogeng Ramotse, Neo Mokhachane, Onkabetse Makgantai, Victor James and Tebogo Kopelang. While their first match against Extension Gunners proved to be a closely contested game, Jwaneng Galaxy emerged victorious with a single-goal margin. In the final against Notwane, they continued their winning streak with another one-goal lead.
Assistant Coach, Blessing Moyo noted that the team would be working hard to address some areas before their CAF Champions League match. With their sights set on a more successful showing in the upcoming competition, Jwaneng Galaxy is determined to build on their recent success and showcase their full potential on the African stage.
"We've identified some areas where we need to improve in order to be ready for the Namibian team. With two weeks to go, we're confident we can address these issues. We've got a squad full of quality and depth, and the players we've signed are just what we need to achieve our goals in the future. Not scoring is certainly a concern, but it's not a problem we can't fix. We know exactly what needs to be done, and we'll be working on it now,” he said.
Jwaneng Galaxy's CAF Champions League campaign kicks off with a two-legged tie against African Stars FC, with the first leg scheduled for the away for Galaxy. However, due to Namibia not having a CAF-approved stadium, the first leg, originally set to be played away from home, will now be played at the National Stadium in Botswana. The second leg will then take place on August 22nd at the same venue.
