The return of Serbian Coach, Dragojlo Stanojlovia is eminent as the Serb is currently in contact with two local clubs and is keen on a return to Botswana to continue where he left off.
The Serbian gaffer left the country amidst the Covid -19 Pandemic in 2020 for Ghana, to take over Division One side, Vision FC as Head Coach but now Drago is keen on a move back to Botswana.
In an interview this week, Stanojlovia said he is currently in contact with two elite local clubs and he will make a move at least before the end of June to start Pre -season preparations.
The coach has not disclosed which team he will be leading saying negotiations between two clubs after his signature are still ongoing.
“I will be back for sure, one day, maybe in June, I have been in contact with two clubs, I'll see how it will all go down. It is good that Botswana clubs are showing interest in me as a coach. I was in Botswana for almost nine years, you have to admit that the people miss me and I miss them and I will be happy to return to Botswana, my second home," he said.
He also said he was glad that football managed to return in a good showing.
“I have been watching and I think that this year's championship was quite good taking in consideration that the teams did not train and play for almost two years, Gaborone United made a very strong statement and I don't see any team matching them soon,” he said.
Drago said he will surely lead the main football project in Botswana for the next couple of years and the team he will join will hopefully reach the final stage of the African Champions League.
“I have been in Ghana for 11 months, I am staying until the end of the championship. I have three more games left then I will see if I will stay. It is very difficult here as compared to life in Botswana, but I work hard and I am satisfied with my progress.”
He further added that FC Vision, a first division outfit in Ghana have a lot of young players going to Europe, four players went during the winter break, and now five or six players have signed Pre-contracts with big clubs in Europe.
“I have made connections, we have a player who will join Atletico Madrid and I have worked in the U20 national team preparing them for several competitions.”
Drago said another reason he is returning to Botswana is because he is owed a lot of money by local teams such as Extension Gunners, Notwane, Mochudi Center Chiefs and Sankoyo Bushbucks.
“The four teams owe me a lot of money, if they paid me today I would have my own small and modest home in Botswana but this is another reason I am returning to Botswana.” The 67-year-old worked in Botswana from 2013 to 2019. During his time, he headed clubs like Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Extension Gunners, Sankoyo Bush Bucks, Gaborone United, Morupule Wanderers and Notwane FC.
The Serbian tactician was also in charge of the Botswana U20 team before heading back to his country. Stanojlovic is expected to lead Vision FC to promotion into the Ghana Premier League from the second-tier with just three games remaining.
