BFA prepares dossier to prove legal existence

Football The Botswana Football Association (BFA) has recently responded to a letter from the Civil and National Registration Department, which asked the BFA to provide proof that their constitution was lawfully amended. The BFA acknowledged the request and stated that they were working on providing the necessary documents. They in turn, asked the department to share the letter from the concerned BFA members who made the complaint.

On June 24th, 2024, the Civil and National Registration department sent a letter to the Botswana Football Association (BFA), stating that they had received complaints from some BFA members. These members claimed that the association had made changes to their constitution without following proper procedures, which made these changes illegal and fraudulent. The Civil and National Registration Department demanded that the BFA prove that the constitution was changed lawfully. If the BFA failed to provide proof, the constitution would be considered invalid.

Masego Busumane, the Head of Marketing at the Botswana Football Association (BFA), stated that the organization has never unlawfully amended its constitution. She asserted that the BFA prioritizes adherence to proper procedures and governance standards in all of its actions, including any amendments to its constitution. Busumane emphasized that the BFA is committed to maintaining the highest standards of transparency and accountability in its operations.

Busumane further stated that the BFA is currently compiling all relevant documentation to provide a transparent account of the amendment process. She emphasized that the BFA is committed to providing detailed records of all meetings, minutes, and documentation related to the constitutional amendments. According to Bosumane, "Our objective is to demonstrate that every amendment was carried out in full compliance with our constitutional requirements and organizational policies. We take our role as a leading organization in Botswana football very seriously and are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and transparency."

The BFA’s primary goal, according to her, is to ensure that they address all concerns and complaints raised by their members comprehensively and transparently. "Our request for the letters of complaints is not merely to identify the complainants but to ensure that we fully understand the specific issues and concerns they have raised. By reviewing the exact complaints submitted, we can provide a thorough and accurate response that directly addresses the points of contention," She said.

Busumane summed up by saying that the BFA intends to thoroughly review the complaints in order to provide a comprehensive response that adequately addresses each concern. She stressed that this approach not only helps resolve the current issues but also builds trust and confidence among BFA members in the organization's governance and procedures. She emphasized the importance of addressing members' concerns and assured that the BFA remains committed to upholding the highest standards of transparency and accountability.
