Local gaffer, Letang Kgengwenyane of BDF XI is currently attending a seven day Level 2 coaching course at the Holland Football University in the Netherlands. The course serves as a refresher course for B and A License holders.

The coach is attending this course to hone his philosophy and study the modern Dutch Periodisation Model and Match Analysis. Also to benchmark on player development philosophies of the Dutch clubs; that is from grassroots to senior teams.

Moreover, the coach will be expected to comeback and challenge for more local trophies given his exploits in Netherlands and he is expected to be head and shoulders above several other local coaches.

According to the Club Communication Officer, Fortune Ketlhaetse, the team has been hard at work even during the absence of the coach, they have since returned from the break on the 11th July 2022.

“The team has travelled to Harare for a pre-season game under the invitation of the Zimbabwean Professional Military teams select, Black Rhinos FC and Chapungu FC.”

He added that with the absence of Coach Kgengwenyane, the team is led by Assistant Coaches, Badiri Sesiro and Mompati Thuma.

Moreover, as they prepare for the new season, the team is yet to establish players to sign in the market. “The team has not signed any player yet but have released 5 players,” Ketlhaetse said.

However, coach Kgengwenyane will need to make several additions to the team when he comes back and it remains to be seen as to which players will join his side as they take on the challenge to win trophies in the new season.

Matebele haven't been competitive enough in recent years having only won the Mascom Top 8 back in 2015. The club will want to press a few buttons that will change the current situation and see them return to their glory days.

The club used to challenge for league titles and domestic trophies but have since lost their competitive edge. Matebele can navigate their path very well given the talent in their team. They have the likes of Godiraone Modingwane, Pelontle Lerole, Godfrey Tauyatswala, Onkabetse Seforo and Thabo Metlhayotlhe in their squad.
