BRUTAL MAN
A 51-year-old woman of Mokhomba village is nursing serious body injuries after her lover repeatedly stabbed her with a pair of scissors on the chest and back this past week.
The injured woman allegedly bears nine stab wounds; she was nearly killed because her partner, Moses Gaolefe (39),suspected that she was cheating on him.
According to Kenyaditswe Mafoko of Jwaneng police, the matter was reported to them by the victim’s daughter who was woken from her deep sleep by her mother’s cries.
“The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 0600hrs. The victim's daughter was sleeping in a separate house not far from her mother’s when she heard what appeared like a commotion coming from the outside. When she stepped out of the house, she was met by the horror sight of her injured mother. “She approached the couple and managed to calm the heated situation down and this is how the suspect managed to escape and go into hiding,” Mafoko said.
The victim was rushed to Mokhomba clinic but due to the grievous bodily harm, she was transferred to Jwaneng hospital for advanced medical care. The victim was released from hospital this week and is recovering at home.
Mafoko said they have managed to eventually arrest Gaolefe and was arraigned before court this past Tuesday. Gaolefe was charged with Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm and has pleaded guilty to the crime. He will be back in court on the 1st of February.
Jwaneng police boss expressed concern that cases of blood spilling are common in his policing area. He added that people are quick to stab others whenever there are misunderstandings. He sternly condemned abuse in all its forms saying violence has far reaching and devastating consequences in society.
