Tsholofelo Letsholo (31) was arraigned before Chief Magistrate Basetsana Keakantse of Selibe Phikwe after allegedly confessing to killing 19-year-old Charity Gaborone of Tsetsebjwe.

Letsholo was nabbed by the police on the 10th of August 2022. He then led the police to where he had killed and buried Gaborone, just behind Makhubu Junior Secondary School in Selibe Phikwe.

Confirming the matter, Officer Commanding No. 10 District Senior Superintendent Meshack Pulenyane said Gaborone, who was at the time of her death, a University of Botswana first-year student, was reported missing in June 2022.

Suspicions are that Letsholo killed Gaborone in June, which would mean that she had been buried for two months.

According to sources close to the matter, Gaborone’s body was found badly decomposed near a small hill, with rocks heaped on top to resemble a grave.

Letsholo claimed that Gaborone was cheating on him and that is how he ended up killing her.

The family of the deceased could not control their emotions and cried uncontrollably when called to identify her body.

Throughout the two months when their child was missing, they had hoped that she would return home alive and safe, only for her to return in a coffin.

The young Gaborone was buried in Tsetsebjwe this past weekend.

President of the UB Student Representative Council (UBSRC) Prosper Lorato confirmed that Gaborone was a UB first-year student. He said the student body was shattered by her demise.
