TIPSY PUPILS

Business came to a standstill this past Monday when about 12 students of Nata Primary School unknowingly ingested drugs after being offered food by unknown people.

Reports from the school say the affected students say they were offered what looked like biscuits by strangers and excited by the free offer, the students went on to share with more of their friends.

But shortly after eating the foodstuffs, the kids begun hallucinating and acting strange. They were rushed to the hospital where it was discovered that Marijuana was infused in the food that the students ate.

When searching the box which contained the biscuits, whitish substances and sachets suspected to be drugs were discovered. The students were hospitalised and monitored for hours at the hospital. It is alleged that the last batch of the affected was released from hospital on Monday evening.

Teachers at the school told this publication that when asked to give clues or try to describe the people that gave them the drugs, the students said the suspects looked like foreigners. “They are white people,” the students pointed out.

This past Tuesday, Central Regional Operations Director in the ministry of education , Sonny Mooketsi. briefly confirmed that some students ate food items suspected to contain drugs and that the issue was being investigated. Mooketsi could not give any further details on the matter, saying he was in a meeting.

Kgosi Justin Mopedi Ntuane of Nata village shared that all they have are unconfirmed reports.

"I cannot really speak with certainty on the matter, we met the police and they said that they are still investigating and not in a position to share anything at the moment. I really do not have facts," he said. The police were unable to comment on the matter with both Nata Police station commander, Mokopi Nawa and Officer Commanding Number 15 District Senior Superintendent Kabo Badirwang's phones ringing unanswered since Tuesday morning.
