The Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC) has announced that it will collaborate with Batswana to create a comprehensive and resonant manifesto for the upcoming general elections.

The party believes that crafting a manifesto with input from the people will allow them to better understand the needs and aspirations of the citizens, ensuring that the manifesto accurately reflects their concerns and priorities.

In a groundbreaking move, the UDC has invited Batswana to contribute to the creation of its manifesto, providing a space for voices from across the country to be heard. By engaging citizens in the policy development process, the party seeks to ensure that its proposed solutions are truly responsive to the needs and challenges faced by the people.

The UDC has taken a bottom-up approach to manifesto development, seeking input from a wide range of stakeholders across various sectors. By engaging with trade unions, farmers, business groups, youth, women, sports, culture, arts, entertainment, and other key constituents, the party aims to capture a diverse range of perspectives and priorities that will inform the policies and proposals featured in its manifesto. This approach promises to produce a more comprehensive and inclusive document that can truly serve the needs of Batswana.

In an interview with The Midweek Sun, Secretary General for UDC, Ketlhalefile Motshegwa said, "We want a manifesto that resonates with the people, that truly and practically addresses the plight of the people. On that note we have assembled a team of knowledgeable and impeccable specialists, whose work will tap on the suggestions and ideas to be made by members and Batswana in general. Our drafting of the manifesto is not an academic exercise, rather we have conceived it as a bottom-up planning process, as we have decentralised it for the people to participate in the drafting of the manifesto.”
