CBET- publishers of the Botswana Guardian and the Midweek Sun newspapers - has confirmed Boitumelo Ndwapi as its General Manager, the company announced this week.

Ndwapi, a qualified Chartered Accountant will lead the company at a time when print media - an infallible giant - is facing growing competition from digital media.

Most print newspapers in Botswana and across the world are finding innovative ways of transitioning to digital media which includes new innovations such as the e-paper.

The e-paper technology has provided newspaper companies with an opportunity of publishing a portable digital e-newspaper with the same readability as in print media.

Newspapers such as the Botswana Guardian and The Midweek Sun have also joined the bandwagon and have their e-paper published in the publications’ newly-revamped website.

Ndwapi will transition from her usual job of being a numbers cruncher to lead Botswana Guardian and The Midweek Sun in achieving their strategic goals. In her own words, her immediate goal is to transform the business into

a more profitable one.

The newly appointed General Manager is looking forward to facing this new challenge which comes at a time when the two sister newspapers are investing on digital media to try and improve their revenue streams.

Ndwapi who graduated from the University of Botswana with Bachelor of Accountancy in 2002 is not new to the usually male-dominated media industry having previously worked at Dikgang Publishing Company- publishers of Mmegi and The Monitor newspapers as an Accountant. Previously she had stints with Ernst & Young and BP Botswana (Now Puma Energy).
