A desperate woman from Tlokweng, Lesang Nkwe, has made a chilling plea for help, claiming she is living in fear of her younger sister, whom she describes as violent, abusive, and deeply involved in disturbing rituals.
Nkwe, a mother of three, says she has done everything; reporting the abuse to the police, seeking intervention from social workers, and even taking the matter to court but nothing has changed. If anything, she says, things have only got worse.
“My sister threatens my life. She tells me straight to my face that I will die, and her life will move forward,” she says.
Born into a family of five, Nkwe has watched helplessly as her home spiralled into chaos following the death of their mother in 2020.
She says her siblings suffer from mental health conditions, with both her brother and youngest sister frequently in and out of Lobatse Psychiatric Hospital.
But it is her youngest sister, she claims, who has turned their household into a nightmare.
“She has taken control of everything, including the family’s finances. The customary court gave her full control over the money, even though I warned them that about her condition,” Nkwe says.
While the rest of the family struggles, Nkwe alleges that her sister misuses the rental money, sometimes disappearing to Cape Town, leaving them in poverty.
“The other sister comes, takes the rental money, and then goes back to where she stays with her boyfriend. There was even a time when she performed a ritual in the middle of the yard before leaving,” Nkwe adds.
As if that was not disturbing enough, her youngest sister refuses to let them close the windows or lock the gate.
“If I try, she gets furious and says we are blocking her powers,” Nkwe reveals.
Desperate for answers, Nkwe says they once took her sister to a pastor, who warned them that she had joined satanism and that saving her would require a major spiritual intervention.
When she refused help, they took her to Lobatse Psychiatric Hospital, but nothing changed.
“She is back, and things are worse than before,” Nkwe sighs.
Nkwe is not the only one living in fear. Her sister’s disturbing behaviour has also affected neighbours. She recently dumped piles of dirt in front of a woman known as MmaPoso’s yard and made a chilling statement:
“She told MmaPoso that she ‘wants her and her child.’”
Nkwe says she has knocked on every door, from police stations to social workers and local authorities but nothing has been done.
“The social workers told me to take my children and leave the house so they can intervene”, she said.
To make matters worse, her other sister abandoned her child, claiming she “went to hustle” and could not stay in a place where “people don’t want to be helped.”
Now, Nkwe is left to handle the crisis alone. “I just want my children to be safe. But if no one helps me soon, I don’t know what will happen.”
