Moroka Gaaitsiwe (45) of Rakhuna village is very frustrated at the way Kamoso Africa Company is dragging feet to repair his wrecked car after he was hit by their truck driver along the Thamaga–Molepolole road.
Kamoso is one of the leading supply and distribution companies in the country.
According to Gaaitsiwe, while driving along the Thamaga-Molepolole road at a very low speed of 20km/h because of the many potholes on that road, he observed with shock how the truck was fast approaching from behind.
“It all happened in broad day light, around 1100hrs, I observed how he wanted to overtake me but somehow ended up hitting me from the driver’s side,” said Gaaistsiwe.
The matter was reported to Thamaga Police Station and the Kamoso driver was found guilty of reckless driving. Police documents suggest that the truck driver was fined P1 000.
It has been two weeks since the accident happened and unemployed Gaaitsiwe is home and down.
“I am doing nothing - that car was my life. I used it to run my errands now I am just home and doing nothing.
“I have children that depend on me, it is nearly month end and I wonder what will happen to me,” he said.
He said that Kamoso should at least be telling him if they will be able to compensate him while they work on repairing his car which is currently parked at the police station. He is concerned that Kamoso is not handling the matter with the urgency it deserves.
Keotshepile Polokwane who works as a Procurement and Logistics officer at Kamoso Company acknowledged that they were aware of Gaaitsiwe’s issue.
“We are aware and doing everything in our power to help him. We have submitted all paperwork to our insurance company and waiting to hear from them.
“We understand his frustrations, unfortunately for him, insurance processes cannot be rushed or handled at the speed he demands,” he said.
