More BDP members migrate to BPF

The Botswana Patriotic Front (BPF) has welcomed new members into the party. Their latest prominent members are Specially ELected Councillor Resego Thamage, Kemmonye Sekati and Ookeditse Malesu.President of the BPF, Mephato Reatile welcomed the trio and explained that former President Khama will continue to be their Patron until the 30th of October this year. He said that when Khama assumes his role as Kgosi of theBangwato he will not have any role in politics. Reatile said that they welcome everyone from all parties dismissing the narrative that those joining the BPF come solely from the BDP.Patron of the BPF, Ian Khama confirmed that once he assumes his role as Kgosi of Bangwato he will no longer be involved in politics. Khama explained that he will consult his uncles on what to do as he intends to go back to his chieftaincy.Kemmonye Sekati is hopeful that the BPF will take power in the upcoming general election. He said the BPF will change the way government is run, as well as empower young people and women. Sekati is joining the BPF from Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) where he was the regional secretary of the Mahalapye Sosong region. He said that the ship is sinking at the BDP and everyone can tell that the current BDP is something that no one is used to Ookeditse Malesu, who also left the BDP said that he is ashamed by what is going on there. He explained that the BPF has fielded people’s people and they will definitely win in the upcoming elections. Moreover, he said that for the past five weeks, residents of Block 6, Block 7, Phase 2 and Block 3 have been calling him and urging him to run for elections and the people he represents pushed him to go to the BPF.Resego Thamage has joined the BPF to add to it and take Batswana to a better future. It is her stern belief that in the BPF she will be able to fight for the voiceless and serve Batswana with love.BPF Chairperson, Carter Morupisi said that the BPF manifesto is ready and will be launched soon.He explained that some of the things in their manifesto are issues of how the nation will deal with poverty and inequality, and also how the nation will provide better social safety nets and the BPF will do a people centred review of the constitution.
