Digital experts were expected to converge in Gaborone for a one-day seminar to unpack and interrogate the digital era dynamics in the workplace.

The seminar under the theme: 'Digital leadership in a new reality’ and hosted by Reliance Infosystems was scheduled for Gaborone International Convention Centre (GICC) in Gaborone Thursday this week.

With operations in four countries in Africa and others in UAE, Pakistan, Canada, and the UK, the company fit extensively to the country's ambitions to become a knowledge-based economy.

Reliance Infosystems is a Microsoft-managed gold partner with multiple accolades for its outstanding technology services. The company’s Country Manager Thuto Molapo says the symposium comes at a time when the economy works towards achieving innovation, research and development capability, knowledge channels and development activities, as highlighted in the National Transformation Strategy for Vision 2036.

“Together with our partners, Microsoft and Sophos, we find it important to bring stakeholders in Information Communication Technology (ICT) in one house for an intimate session in which we will evangelise digital transformation.

“We believe that Botswana can transform into a digital-savvy economy; our digital reach of 44 countries, over 150 certified professionals and over 3200 customers strive towards a common purpose.

“We have further lined up experts’ speakers and moderators to benchmark and implement each delegate’s deliverables,” Molapo said.

Among key objectives of the event is to motivate stakeholders to be inspired by leading speakers in business transformation who discuss digital innovation, giving attending delegates actionable new ideas to benchmark and implement.

The symposium will further challenge how digital technologies can create resilient business models in the post-COVID-19 era and transform the business with a 'thought leadership' focus through sharing and highlighting actual business use cases and success stories.

From the engagements, stakeholders and delegates can yield business growth through networking with industry leaders on how to expand businesses using technology.

“The session will see distinguished speakers such as Pieter Nel - SADC Regional Head Sophos, Godfrey Mathumo - IT Infrastructure and Operations Manager at Botswana Power Corporation headline the interactions in digital transformation parleys,” the country manager said.
