First Capital bank Botswana CEO Reinette Van Der Merwe has announced that First Capital Bank Botswana is pledging P50,000.00 to support Learn To Play's training program and provide essential resources for the Mindful Play Education Initiative in Botswana.

Merwe said that their donation will play a pivotal role in empowering over 500 children across 11 underprivileged communities in our country through daily mindful play activities and access to a high-quality play-based education.

“It is evident that Learn to Play’s passion and dedication to this cause has been instrumental in establishing playgroups in 11 communities around the country, exclusively focused on children under the age of 5,” Merwe said.

Furthermore Merwe explained that over the years First Capital Bank has actively supported various initiatives aimed at empowering communities and promoting education. Last year the bank donated play mats to all the Learn to Play centres around the country, and also adopted Bontleng playgroup for Term three.

Through the P50 000.00 donation Merwe reaffirmed their dedication to creating lasting change and contributing to the growth and prosperity of Botswana. Stating that “our collaboration with Learn To Play represents not just a partnership but a shared vision for a better tomorrow.”

The Board Chairperson of Learn to Play Taazima Kala Essack explained that Mindful play builds emotional intelligence, empowering children to understand and express their emotions and to develop life-long skills to navigate their feelings and build healthy relationships.

Furthermore she said that Mindful play encourages collaboration, communication, and empathy, fostering positive social connections and a greater sense of community and belonging.

“Thank you, First Capital Bank, for today, you help make it so through your support of our Mindful Play Education Initiatives, aimed at enhancing the social and emotional development of children in underprivileged communities,” Essack told First Capital Bank Botswana.

Learn to Play (LTP) was founded in 2017 with the vision to ensure equitable access to high quality Early Childhood Development (ECD) by harnessing the power of play as a means to facilitate, stimulate and inspire learning while uplifting women’s economic opportunities.

Since its inception, Learn to Play has established playgroups in 11 communities around the country focused on children under the age of five.
LTP's play-based approach to ECD uniquely focuses on nurturing social and emotional skills, encouraging mindfulness, and fostering creativity and imagination.
