LOVEMORE IS A LIAR

- - Tlotso's funeral date unknown

Throngs of Lobatse residents flooded the Lobatse Magistrate Court amidst the presence of heavy Botswana Police Service and the armed Special Support Group to get a glimpse of the arrested Lovemore Sithole who has confessed to the murder of a seven-year-old Tlotso Karema.

Sithole was brought before court for mention this Tuesday. The case took a ten-minute recess because the court was looking for a Shona interpreter for the accused. However the case was eventually postponed to July 27.

Sithole is remanded in custody as the Magistrate noted that his life is in danger and he is safer in jail. Moreover, the court does not want Sithole to tamper with evidence.

A close family member of the Karema family has revealed that the family is still waiting for the second set of DNA results from the Police.

The family member revealed that they were greatly hurt by the actions of Sithole, adding that this is a difficult time for all of them as they are having a hard time processing it all.

The family member revealed that they do not know when the funeral of Tlotso will be held as there are just too many moving pieces right now.

The heavy police presence did not stop crowds from gathering outside of the court as they chanted their frustrations out. The lively crowd was chanting the words ‘we want Tlotso’ and they grew even more animated as Sithole was whisked away by a police escort, causing the SSG police to make a human fence between the crowds and Sithole’s escort.

Seven-year-old Tlotso Karema went missing in March this year and the BPS reported that they had found his remains. However, his mother cast doubt on the police report indicating that she did not believe that the remains were her child’s.

The Karema family hired traditional healers to help them expose the truth behind the matter and riots followed in the usually quiet town of Lobatse, culminating in a couple of arrests of people who were believed to be inciting violence.

Following the protests in Lobatse and public uproar across the nation, the police announced that they had arrested a suspect in the once open and shut case.

To the surprise of many, the arrested suspect was the stepfather of Tlotso, a man who had been seen in the public supporting his lover and her family through their difficult time.

Rumours of this being a ritualistic and occultist murder turned rife in the public domain as people began to spew allegations of high-profile people being involved in the disappearance of Tlotso.

A resident of Lobatse who had attended the court alleged that the police are hiding information about the case as they have not yet brought forth any accomplices of Sithole because according to them, Sithole did not do this hideous act alone.

Another resident of Lobatse said she scared of having children because people are murdering innocent children and causing havoc in the lives of families. She indicated that Sithole was a liar because he understands English and Setswana, therefore he was just using delay tactics in the case.

Police spokesperson Near Bagali has said that they are running tests on the human remains that were found where Sithole said he had killed Tlotso to confirm whether or not they are the remains of Tlotso. Moreover the BPS has warned against people who spread misinformation on the case, saying they will face the full wrath of the law.
