Tshepo Duncan Lesole, a 20-year-old man from Molapowabojang, has been arrested for murder.
Appearing before the Lobatse Principal magistrate Tshoganetso Atamelang on Thursday, a visibly shocked Tshepo Duncan Lesole stood in the dock as charges were read to him.
According to the charge sheet, Lesole allegedly assaulted and killed an elderly man, Odirile Rabana, on January 21st in Peleng Ward.
The incident is still under investigation, with the investigating officer currently attending to the deceased’s post-mortem.
According to reports, the deceased, who was often visibly unwell, went to the suspect’s parents’ house and demanded food.
When the accused told him there was none, the deceased allegedly chased him with a knife. In an attempt to escape, the suspect ran around the family home.
Realising he was exhausted, he allegedly picked up a stone and struck the deceased, causing him to fall to the ground.
The elderly man was later admitted to the hospital, where he succumbed to the injuries.
